High Commissioner meets the visiting Maldives National Football Team


19 December 2015, Kuala Lumpur; High Commissioner H. E. Mr. Mohamed Fahmy Hassan met the visiting Maldives National Football Team last night. The meeting was held at Sahara Tent Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur.

Speaking at the meeting High Commissioner Fahmy said that as the Government of H. E. President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom has given the highest priority to the youth development as a strategy for the development of the country including sports, it gives immense pleasure to meet the National team. He conveyed good wishes of the Government, Maldivians living in Malaysia, the High Commission and on his own behalf and said that he has full confidence that the National team would do very well in the up-coming SAFF Suzuki Cup 2015 to be held in India this month. He also highlighted on the positive results that the team has got during the practice matches they are playing in Malaysia. National team captain Mr. Ali Ashfaq thanked the High Commissioner and the staff for the opportunity to meet them and assured that all the players and coaching staff are working very hard to make a positive impact in the up-coming tournament.

Maldives National Football Team is in Malaysia on a 7-day practice camp to prepare for the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2015 to be held in India and played four practice matches. The National team will conclude their camp to Malaysia on 20th December 2015.

The meeting held last night was also attended by all the diplomatic staff at the High Commission.
