THE NEW AMBASSADOR OF MALAYSIA PRESENTS HIS CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT

The New Ambassador of Malaysia, his Excellency Mr. Tan Yang Thai formally presented his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih yesterday (10th February) at the President’s Office.

At the ceremony, the President congratulated His Excellency on his ambassadorial appointment and expressed confidence that the friendly relations that has marked bilateral ties between the Maldives and Malaysia will continue to prosper during his tenure.

Further, the President conveyed his appreciation for the continuous support and assistance provided to the people of the Maldives by the Government of Malaysia over the years, emphasizing in particular Malaysia’s generous extension of education opportunities for Maldivians. Noting the excellent people to people contact between the two countries, the President referred to the fact that Malaysia hosts one of the largest Maldives’ populations overseas.

Speaking during the call, Ambassador Tan Yang Thai expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm and traditional welcome he received upon arriving to the Maldives’ and the President taking time out of his busy schedule to accept his credentials and meet with him. His Excellency noted that he looks forward to further cooperation with the Maldives.

During the Call, the President asked the Ambassador to convey his regards to His Excellency Mahatir Mohamed, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
