Why do you require a Travel Document?
The High Commission in collaboration with the Maldives Immigration provides temporary travel document to Maldivians who do not have a passport to travel back to Maldives. Usually Travel documents are issued for new-born babies, and for those who have lost their existing passport.
Upon submission of application, the High Commission will issue the travel document within 10 working days if all the necessary application requirements are met. Certificate of Identity is valid for 15 days from the date of issue.
Photo service is provided at the High Commission. If the applicant wishes to bring his/her own photo, it must comply with the Immigration guidelines. In this case, High Commission will ONLY accept soft copy of the photo.

- Malaysian Birth Certificate (in case of new born)
- Marriage Certificate (in case of new born)
- Passport of both parents (in case of new born)
- Malaysian Police Report (in case of lost passport)
- Confirmed flight ticket
Stamping the Travel Document:
Before departure from Malaysia, CI issued has to be stamped by the Malaysian Immigration (Putrajaya).

Applicant (including new born) has to be present at Malaysian Immigration (Putrajaya). The applicant is advised to take ALL ORIGINALS and COPIES of the documents when going to Malaysian Immigration (Putrajaya). Certificate of Identity is stamped by Malaysian Immigration (Putrajaya) within 14 working days. A fee of RM100 is charged by Malaysian Immigration (Putrajaya) to stamp the CI.
- Certificates of Identity are ONLY issued to fly back to Maldives.
